SALES AND DESIGN CONSULTANT
The consultant represents Greenjeans in promotion, networking, design, sales and client care.
This position is responsible for prospecting and consulting with clients regarding their interior plantscape design needs. They will engage with clients throughout the process of design, installation, and ongoing maintenance of our product. They create custom design solutions for client spaces, incorporating elements such as tropical plants, commercial planters, blooming plants, living walls, faux plants, moss art.
The consultant will complete proposals, and post installation and service documentation to facilitate efficient follow-through and excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
•
Consult with clients and prospects to assess / design interior plantscapes.
•
Create custom design solutions for commercial spaces incorporating elements such as tropical plants, commercial grade planters, blooming plants, living walls, moss walls.
•
Prepare attractive, professional proposals – this includes calculating pricing for custom components, preparing personalised documentation and imaging.
•
Present proposals to clients and prospects in an appealing and professional manner.
•
Take the lead on the bidding and tendering process. This includes reading and interpreting tenders, floorplans and blueprints, then creating custom solutions and uploading proposals that are compliant and meet the scope of work.

Collaborate with the team to coordinate any installation-related site requirements such as orientations, supplying documentation to clients as requested, conducting site hazard assessments.

Cultivate a visible customer care presence. Manage customer expectations. Provide assistance to clients as requested.
•
Promote Greenjeans to our target markets. Foster the company's existing brand. Actively seek out and optimize local networking opportunities. Help ownership develop greater brand awareness and relationships within desirable market segments such as architecture, design and commercial property management. Promote and collaborate with initiatives for relationship-building such as CEUs, Lunch & Learns, hosted events at our premises.
• Stay current in the industry: Up-to-date and conversant with the latest products, pricing,
promotions and offerings from existing and potential vendors.
• Seek out and attend educational opportunities. Read industry publications and forums and
maintain professional networks.
• Accurately complete paperwork and follow processes for installations and projects.
• Assist with installations, overseeing correct design implementation, and helping the
Installations Supervisor as needed.
• Collaborate with the Service Manager to provide excellent customer service and quick
response to client requests and queries.
• Identify opportunities to grow and improve business and sales.
• Meet Key Performance Indicators for client contacts, proposals generated, sales achieved,
meeting deadlines, accurate record keeping. Ensure all proposals are accurate, proofed, and
professional. Follow-up paperwork for executing approved sales must follow set processes,
guidelines and timeframes.
• Submit projects for industry and design awards.
A successful team member will engage and collaborate with colleagues in various departments
to assist each other in doing rewarding work, satisfying client needs and achieving goals.
Plantscapes must be designed for long-term sustainability and profitability, with client
expectations managed accordingly.
An effective designer will consider the consequences that site-specific product choices have on
the long-term sustainability and practicality for the horticultural maintenance team, and implement
designs accordingly.
Other responsibilities may include:
• After-hours and weekend work is occasionally requested to meet client needs, especially
during peak seasonal periods. Assist with seasonal installations as needed in time of peak
demand eg. spring planting, holiday decorating.
• Monthly vehicle inspections for the sales department vehicle; schedule and facilitate repairs
and maintenance.
General requirements:
• Exercise maturity and good judgement in communication with colleagues, and maintain the
discretion and confidentiality appropriate to a leadership position.
• Represent Greenjeans and the vision of the management team in a professional and positive
manner.

• Adhere to the Greenjeans OH&S requirements. Advise management in a timely manner of
any concerns regarding workplace or site safety which need to be addressed.
Skills and Competencies:
• A passion for biophilic design, and a good understanding of the principles of design.
• Demonstrated professional experience in a related field.
• Comfortable designing for large commercial spaces.
• Sound administration skills. Proficient in Outlook, Word, Excel. Proficient in design software
such as Canva
• Self-motivated, with strong time management skills and the ability to think ahead and prioritise
frequently changing demands.
• Strong communication abilities. An excellent command of English language and good
communication skills (verbal and written). Oral and written communication appropriate to our
corporate client base.
• Sales and negotiation skills, presented in a personable manner.
• Creative problem-solver able to customise solutions.
• The ability to interpret tenders, floorplans, blueprints and architectural plans.
• A good working knowledge of tropical plants and their needs in relation to the interiorscaping
industry is helpful, but can be learned on the job.
• Able to work calmly, efficiently and accurately under pressure. Maintain a professional,
respectful manner under pressure.
• Alberta Driver’s Licence and clean driving record.
• A clean police record.
The Sales and Design Consultant is a mid-level/senior role. They report to the Managing Partner.
This is a full-time, permanent position. Regular hours of work are 35-40 per week, Monday
through Friday.
Starting rate ~$58,000 + quarterly commission.
