Director of Operations, Fantasyland Hotel

Reporting directly to the Fantasyland Hotel General Manager, the Director of Operations for Fantasyland Hotel is responsible for leading, evaluating and developing the operational activities for Fantasyland Hotel and West Edmonton Mall Inn while ensuring that the highest level of quality services are provided to guests at all times.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Providing leadership and operational guidance to various management teams for areas, including but not limited to, the Front Office, Maintenance, Housekeeping, and Food and Beverage departments of Fantasyland Hotel.
  • Developing, implementing, and upholding operational standards, quality assurance inspections and guest satisfaction programs.
  • Taking a hands-on leadership approach to assist the various hotel departments when required and to ensure the smooth operations of the hotel in absence of the General Manager.
  • Leading by example as a customer service focused presence on the floor with all aspects of hotel operations while setting the example of hospitality service to guests at all times.
  • Providing hotel industry input in relation to new operational initiatives or enhancements to the property and creating business plans to achieve desired results.
  • Assisting the General Manager with escalation issues relating to customer service concerns, employee relations matters, and quality control measures.
  • Working with other internal Company departments to ensure all hotel security, human resources, and IT standards and protocols are being adhered to.
  • Reviewing relevant financial reports and documentation to ensure proper operational efficiency and accountability.
  • Other responsibilities as required.

Desired Qualifications:

  • A minimum of seven (7) - ten (10) years of work experience in the Hospitality industry in a senior level Hotel Management position in a large volume high end hotel or resort property.
  • Completion of a post-secondary diploma or degree in Hospitality and management or in a related discipline.
  • Outstanding leadership, team building, communication, and organizational skills and the ability to work in a fast paced, ever-changing dynamic environment.
  • Strong financial and revenue management experience with strong working knowledge of Hotel Rooms Division and Food and Beverage operations.
  • Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills with the ability to create a quality hotel experience for our guests and build a cohesive and motivated team.

Terms of Employment:

  • This is a full-time position that is required to have flexibility to be available day, evenings and weekends when required.
  • This is a salaried position that will depend on experience and qualifications.
  • This position qualifies for the 4-day workweek program.
  • Must be able to pass a basic security clearance.
