All industrial and commercial water systems need treatment to prevent microbiological growth, system scaling or system corrosion. Traditionally this has been done with solid and liquid chemicals with varying degrees of success. Getting successful treatment results are hit and miss and these chemicals, when used and discharged, are very harmful to operations staff and the environment. In 2019, Hawkstone Solutions set out to change the paradigm by removing all chemicals from its water treatment programs. Hawkstone Solutions now uses Sphagnum Moss and Purified Tannins to treat all kinds of operating water systems with excellent control of scale, corrosion and microbiological activity including Legionella.

Marc began his career in water treatment as a product development chemist with Nalco Chemicals Ltd. in 1992 after earning his B.Sc. at the University of British Columbia and his M.Sc. from the University of Alberta. In 2008, Marc earned the CWT designation. In addition to Nalco Chemicals, Marc has worked for GE Betz Dearborn and Guardian Chemicals over his 30-year career in the water treatment industry. He started his own consulting and water management company, Hawkstone Solutions, based out of Stony Plain, Alberta, Canada, in September of 2012. The company is providing chemical free water treatment consulting to a variety of industrial and commercial water users in western Canada and the Middle East.
