This session will be divided into two parts and presented by Gord Rajewski, a National Practice Leader Building Science and Sustainability at Pinchin Ltd.

The first part of the session with be, "Roofing 101", covering the following:

  • Cold-applied, modified bituminous (SBS) roofing

The second part of the session will be, "Roofing Comes Alive—Green Roofs for Alberta Buildings", and will cover:

  • Storm Water Management in a time of increased Climate Vulnerability + Introduction to “Blue Roofing” (using the rooftop for water retention)
  • Improved aesthetics
  • Improved Well-being for Occupants of buildings with Live Roofs
  • Opportunities for Green Building Certification
  • Reduction in Green House Gas Emissions/Decarbonization
  • Improved Energy Performance + Synergy of Green Roofing and Roof Mounted Photo Voltaic Panels (Renewable Energy Options)
