Addiction and Homelessness… What can we do?
Dr. Rob Tanguay is renowned as an innovator in the fields of addiction, mental health, and pain management. With a passionate interest in the impact of addiction and mental health on communities - and their impact on homelessness - he is known for bringing new, sometimes controversial, ideas to public health policy on addictions and mental health, such as safe supply, supervised consumption, and the use of psychedelics in treatment. He has served as a member of the Alberta Recovery Expert Advisory Panel leading the implementation of the Recovery Orientated System of Care. Along with his role as a clinical assistant professor with the departments of Psychiatry and Surgery at the University of Calgary, Dr. Tanguay is a member of the Calgary Police Commission, Provincial Medical Lead for Addiction Education for Alberta Health Services (AHS), founder of the Opioid Deprescribing Program, and the Rapid Access Addiction Medicine program, and is co-founder the Newly Institute, a rehabilitation and return to work program.
