Role Summary
This site-based role will report into the Project Manager, exhibiting a high attention to detail while managing various aspects of construction project activities. This position will primarily require the coordination of resources to self-perform and execute projects in a safe, qualitative, and timely manner. Ideal Candidates will have demonstrated their skill set by showing their career advancement into a Superintendent level (having had previous equipment operator and foreman experience).
Responsibilities
- Develops, maintains, and drives the construction schedule in conjunction with the project leaders to ensure budgets and timelines are met
- Ensures that projects are built in accordance to approved plans, specifications and design drawings while ensuring that high quality standards are maintained
- Coordinating of personnel and equipment resources
- Establish and communicate tasks to Site Foreman to ensure they clearly understand their respective roles and responsibilities
- Assist the project management team with daily quantity and cost tracking
- Review and sign off daily field safety paperwork and timesheets
- Provide leadership and training to Foreman and other field staff
- Proactively identifying, addressing, and resolving issues and problems as or before they occur
- Track and monitor equipment utilization and
- Developing and maintaining positive relationships with clients, consultants, and sub-contractors with a focus on mutual trust and respect
- Ordering materials and supplies; daily coordination of work schedule and manpower
- Work with the Safety Advisors to ensure the work is performed safely
Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years of civil construction and earthworks/remediation experience and previous experience running all types of earth moving equipment
- Is a technical school graduate in construction and/or has extensive construction experience with a minimum of 5 years of “hands-on” experience in the capacity of site superintendent. This experience should include direct site management of civil and earthworks
- In depth knowledge of grade control and earth moving productions
- In depth knowledge of construction procedures, equipment and OHS guidelines
- Software is heavily used within the organization processes; the candidate must have strong computer skills and have a history of working within software programs such as: Microsoft Excel & Microsoft Word.
- Capable of anticipating constructability issues in complex situations and creating solutions in the construction plan and schedule
- Has well-developed people and supervisory skills
- Possesses a demonstrable record of success on small to medium scale projects together with effective decision-making capabilities
- Can provide professional leadership, mentor team members but most importantly lead by example
- Can effectively communicate with everyone on site and develop long-term relationships with clients, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors
- Has sound business judgement and will prioritize safety, quality and then profitability
- Working knowledge of health, safety and environmental protection practices and procedures as they apply to common construction processes
- Must have Construction Safety Training Systems (CSTS-09) Certificate, WHMIS 2015, First Aid, Ground Disturbance Level II and Leadership for Safety Excellence
- Experience in pre-project planning and estimating
