Opportunity
MacEwan University is seeking a Senior Manager, Maintenance and Infrastructure, for a full-time continuing opportunity with our Facilities Operations department. Reporting to the Director, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and effective maintenance of all MacEwan facilities and infrastructure, overseeing both the Mechanical and Electrical Planning and Maintenance team and the Structural and Architectural Planning and Maintenance team. In this leadership role, you will provide high level expertise to guide the infrastructure and maintenance planning process and operational delivery to fulfill the entire scope of responsible areas, and schedule requirements, while maintaining the integrity and functionality of MacEwan's infrastructure, contributing to a safe and conducive environment for students, staff, and visitors.
Key responsibilities include:
- Overseeing the recruitment, mentoring, and professional development of staff while managing external service providers, ensuring optimal resource utilization and alignment of the Maintenance team with the University’s goals, all while upholding policies for effective facilities management and continuous improvement;
- Establishing and implementing strategic goals and operational requirements for facilities infrastructure and maintenance planning, ensuring efficient operations through expert advice on building design, continuous improvement of maintenance programs, adherence to best practices in energy conservation, and effective integration of projects into daily operations;
- Developing and managing project plans, schedules, KPIs, and budgets for infrastructure and maintenance initiatives, coordinating with stakeholders, auditing operations, and implementing information systems to ensure compliance with policies, while leading special projects and collaborating with other managers and external partners to support the University's strategic objectives;
- Collaborating with OH&S, MacEwan HSE, and other stakeholders, to develop and implement Facilities Health and Safety programs, conducting hazard assessments, managing employee safety records, leading the Emergency Preparedness Plan, and ensuring compliance with legislation and the University’s Sustainability Policy through ongoing process improvements; and
- Leading the facilities maintenance administration by managing contract processes, developing and analyzing the overall budget, advising on cost implications for projects, ensuring proper allocation of funding sources, establishing quality standards and inventory control, recommending process improvements, and providing guidance on legal and procedural matters while optimizing financial reporting and asset management.
SKILLS

- Leadership and managerial skills, with knowledge of human resources and collective agreement management and administration;

- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and CMMS systems; and
- Strong organizational and analytical problem-solving skills, with the ability to think outside the box.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A minimum of a Mechanical Engineering degree.
- Facilities Management Certification.
- A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in a similar role, with gained expertise in facilities planning, contract administration, employee and labour relations, and management in a large-scale organization.
- Experience with integration project management, risk management and contract law procurement management .
- Experience with quality, time, scope and cost management.
- Experience with facilities planning processes and building design.
- Red seal trade certification is preferred.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
