MBC Group is seeking a Senior Environmental Consultant to fill a full-time role in Edmonton, Alberta. Independent contractor arrangements are also possible for this role. Our team is expert in completing turnkey services in their fields which include sustainability, building design, civil and industrial engineering, building consulting, appraisal and project support as well as environmental and laboratory services.
Perform senior environmental technical functions related to the following activities:
Provide leadership, training, and technical expertise to the Environmental group.
Conduct field work, manage assigned projects and prepare technical environmental reports.
Consult, support, and review Hazardous building material assessment projects.
Air quality monitoring, mould and asbestos sampling and abatement.
Prepare and conduct mould assessment and remediation design.
Be a leader within the company National Safety Program, including conducting site inspections.
Support operational initiatives and make recommendations and support the enhancement of systems, processes, and policies.
Support cross-functional initiatives by collaborating with other Environmental groups, and other lines of businesses within MBC to generate business opportunities. Prepare quotations and proposals for projects and bids and participate in business development activities and events.
What you will bring
Degree or diploma in environmental sciences or equivalent certification in hygiene is preferred. Equivalent experience and certification will be considered and are encouraged to apply.
Experience in Asbestos, Hazmat, IAQ projects and field consulting is required.
Strong practice knowledge and networks within the insurance industry, construction and/or restoration contracting is a strong asset, as are IICRC certifications.
Proficiency and/or experience with laboratory or microscope use is an asset, as is government clearances or safety certifications (i.e. confined space, fall arrest, H2S)
Deep knowledge of environmental regulatory requirements, provincial legislation and municipal bylaws.
Demonstrated competency in the following areas: client services, results orientated, report writing and Microsoft Office Suite.
The position requires the individual to pass a mask fit test.àTravel and after-hours work may be required on a call out basis.
