The opportunity:
The primary objective of the Maintenance Technician Level 1 is to ensure that the assigned building or complex of buildings is being managed and maintained in a safe and environmentally responsible manner and to the highest level of operational efficiency.
What you will do:
- Primary duties are to assist Building Operators in daily activities.
- Performing work in accordance to established processes and practices.
- Perform general maintenance duties with basic knowledge within electrical, mechanical, plumbing systems, carpentry, drywall repairs, painting, light lamp changes, minor plumbing repairs, etc.
- General maintenance including general housekeeping such as sweeping, litter pick up, shoveling snow, garbage removal, moving/organizing supplies and pressure washing.
- Clean exterior public areas from litter and debris ensuring building appearance, safety and convenience are upheld at all times.
- Monitor and maintain all tools and equipment ensuring they are in good working order.
- Assisting with preventative maintenance and unscheduled repairs;
- Attending to tenant requests, including minor repairs in tenant spaces.
- Assist with contractors working under the direction of Building Operator
- Assisting with environmental assessments and reporting;
- Participating in corporate occupational health and safety program;
- Assisting with waste, recycling and hazardous materials issues.
- Embrace and pro-actively support BentallGreenOak's culture of environmental sustainability, and corporate and social responsibility.
- Active participation in Preventative Maintenance program.
- Must be in good physical condition, able to participate in moving of supplies/equipment.
- Be an integral part of a building operations team;
- Assisting in enhancing tenant and customer satisfaction and maintaining positive relation
- through manner in which work is performed and services delivered.
- Provide backup to other members of the crew when the need arises.
- Other duties as assigned from time to time based on needs, training, knowledge, and capabilities

Who you are:
- Minimum of one year of related experience.
- Good verbal communication skills.
- Positive personality and professionalism.
- Reliable vehicle required as transportation may be required to multiple buildings within Edmonton
- Self-motivated team player who is committed to personal growth and ethical integrity
- Ability to allocate one’s time effectively and manage tight deadlines;
- Ability to work under pressure and achieve quality results;
- Ability to handle multiple demands and competing priorities, adaptable to new ideas and embrace changes; results and detail oriented;
- Work within an environment that is subject to high paced situations; on occasion requires involvement in repairs or maintenance in inclement weather or uncomfortable environmental working conditions;

- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both oral and written;
- Ability to develop and sustain cooperative working relationships with contractors, tenants and the public.
