ABOUT THE PRESENTER

Alan Irving
Technical Manager
Alberta Elevating Devices and Amusement Rides Safety Association (AEDARSA)

Alan Irving is the Technical Manager at the Alberta Elevating Devices and Amusement Rides Safety Association (AEDARSA), the delegated administrative organization responsible for the safety oversight and permitting of elevating devices in Alberta. He brings over 20 years of experience in the elevator industry, with a background in construction, inspection, and regulatory compliance.

A Journeyman Elevator Constructor, QEI-certified inspector for elevating devices, and certified amusement ride inspector, Alan provides technical leadership and code interpretation related to the application and enforcement of safety codes for elevators and escalators, barrier-free lifts, manlifts, and personnel hoists. His work involves close collaboration with industry stakeholders, inspectors, engineers, and government partners.

Alan is an active member of the CSA B44 Technical Committee, a contributing member on multiple ASME A17.1/CSA B44 code committees, and serves on the ASME A17 Regulatory Advisory Council, supporting the development, interpretation, and harmonization of elevating device safety codes across jurisdictions.
